Tempeh
Year Round
Henry's Tempeh is Certified Organic using locally grown products to create handcrafted tempeh.
Henry, the original founder of Henry’s Tempeh, began crafting tempeh on Salt Spring Island. Eventually, Henry relocated to Kitchener-Waterloo and open their first facility, winning over a customer base through demonstrations of his product and his personal charm. Paul, one of the current owners, spent time living in Indonesia, where tempeh became part of his regular diet. When he returned home, he got in touch with Henry and was hired on!
Paul was taught how to make tempeh by Begzada, who is their long time tempeh maker. Eventually, Paul took over the business from Henry when he retired. Paul’s friends Phil and Jason came on board to temporarily help out and upgrade equipment, and loved it so much they both became partners in the business! They have recently built a new processing facility and have expanded production to keep up with demand.
